Carers – how we care for you

Who are carers?

Carers are defined as: “any person, adult or child, who provides unpaid support to a partner, relative or friend who couldn’t manage to live independently or whose health or wellbeing would deteriorate without this help. This could be due to frailty, disability or serious health condition, mental ill health or substance misuse.” (Supporting Carers: An action guide for general practitioners and their teams. 2nd ed.2011; London, RCGP)

We want to know if you are a carer

We would like you to let us know if you are a carer, as we will be able to offer you enhanced services and support, understanding the pressures and challenges that you may experience as a carer.

For example, we offer carers:

  • Enhanced access and flexibility of appointments to make it easier for you to access healthcare
  • Health checks to monitor physical and mental health
  • Free annual influenza immunisation

Let us know if you are a carer

Please email us or visit the practice to identify yourself as a carer.

You can also self refer for a range of local support and services for carers provided by Carers Trust.

Carers can also register and find useful resources at Carers UK.
